KUDU BLUE SUGAR LEMZ

Brighton four-piece Kudu Blue announce their debut EP, Shaded, with a curve ball of a track 'Sugar Lemz'. Written, recorded and produced in their home studio, the band present a more chilled version of their alternative R&B. Weird and winding electronics are punctuated with sparse, reverberating strings, following the natural flow of Clementine's dizzying vocals. This eerie opening hints towards the anxiety surrounding meeting new people, entering new relationships and feeling at odds with yourself, as we can read into the imaginative lyrics, "tastebuds melt away from my tongue, sugar and lemons taste the same to me." Yet it's not all unnerving electronics and vulnerability. At moments, 'Sugar Lemz' swells with confidence, whether it's the rich R&B melodies or the segue into piano balladry, the band want you to know this is also a song about "coming in to your own and finding harmony with another." Speaking further on the first track from their upcoming EP, Kudu Blue relay that “It's intentionally something a bit different from the other music we have put out. We wanted to make a chilled track that you could put on in the living room at 5am after a heavy night.” - HT
